ProWorks is Helping Businesses Leverage Social Media in Corvallis

Our third session on ‘Social Media for Business’ hosted at the Corvallis Chamber was attended by fourteen forward minded social media explorers around Corvallis. It was great mix including Mayor Tomlinson, marketing professionals, brick-n-mortar and web store owners. The mix of experience and perspectives made for some great discussions.

Getting Started: Social Media Cheat Sheet

Getting Started: Social Media Cheat Sheet

Some of the things we talked about included:

  • Exchanging control of ”the message” for open conversations
  • Who and how many people use social media
  • How to get started easy without investing much time
  • Rules for using Twitter “correctly” or the lack of rules
  • Listening and participating sensitive to time spent
  • Some nuances and etiquette of Twitter and Facebook

Here are some local examples we didn’t get to during the ninety minute session:

I love hearing about the obstacles business owners have to using social media and coming up with ways to help them overcome them. Loyan’s three slide presentation allowed a great exchange. The one thing that I enjoy most is helping businesses find creative ways to reach customers and at the same time build meaningful relationships. There are so many great stories to tell just in our small community alone. Great job guys.

Sounds like a great event. How do I get on the invite list for the next one :-)

    Cheers.

  4. Loyan says:

    Eric,

Are you kidding? How can I bribe you to attend? You are a great example for all of us. Your contribution would be super valuable for the group.

I’ll personally contact you directly to beg you to come to the next one (next couple weeks).

  5. Eric Stoller says:

I am easily bribeable and would love to attend if I am available. If you can give me about a week of lead time before the next event, that would be great! You’ve got my email…just let me know.
